BBC to ramp up virtual world activities

The BBC has been a big supporter of virtual worlds in the UK, not least with its Adventure Rock world, which has been high-profile in recent months. It seems the area will continue to be a priority for the UK broadcaster, judging by its annual programme policy statement (PDF link)

Natasha Bedingfield to stream live acoustic gig into Habbo Hotel

Habbo Hotel has clearly been building up its music activties in recent months, although usually around in-world promotions where bands meet their fans virtually. However, it's stepped up a gear with the announcement that Brit singer Natasha Bedingfield is to stream a live acoustic gig into Habbo.

There.com virtual world licenses movie clips from Paramount

Makena Technologies has struck a deal with Paramount Digital Entertainment to license clips from thousands of the latter's films and TV shows for use in Makena's There.com virtual world. Most of the clips are from the archives, with the aim being that There.com users will pay for them.
