UK-based virtual world VizWoz has announced a new contest for users involving its new VizWoz media player feature. The search for the 'VizWoz DJ of the Year 2008' kicks off next week, and will tie into other music-related activities within the world.
It sounds well-worked, with a virtual DJ Studio launching in the world, with four themed rooms covering Hip Hop, R’n’B, Electro House, and Disco. Users wander into the DJ booth, choose some tracks and samples, then create their own megamix.
The competition closes in late July, after which a panel of judges will pick a winner, who gets a DJ Experience course (in the real world), and a year’s VIP subscription to VizWoz. The competiiton also ties in the world’s Viz Dollas virtual currency, since the winner will be able to earn royalties from their track.
The media player itself sounds interesting though: it’ll let users play music and share playlists with friends within VizWoz, as well as access music videos and listen to an in-world radio station. With these kinds of features, VizWoz is going head-to-head with rival virtual world Habbo, which has introduced similar music features.
