Tribal Nova takes $2m investment from DHX Media

Independent TV producer DHX Media has acquired a 16.77% stake in online gaming firm Tribal Nova for $2 million, which should see DHX’s content library exploited within Tribal Nova’s games and virtual worlds. The Canadian company focuses on worlds and content for children aged 3-12, and works with children’s TV broadcasters and ISPs in North America and Europe. DHX says it’ll also introduce Tribal Nova to its broadcaster clients around the world. “With this investment, we plan on taking our broadband channels to even more exciting levels by integrating major community, Web 2.0 and user generated content functionalities adapted for kids,” say Tribal Nova’s co-CEOs Guillaume Aniorté and Pierre Le Lann. “We also plan on accelerating our international expansion into European and North American markets.” So far, Tribal Nova has produced or licensed rights to more than 500 games, with some bundled in with video content into virtual worlds.
