Second Life has a charitable Christmas appeal

Comments [1] | 21 December 2007

second-life-christmas.jpg It's doubtful there'll be much charity in the air tomorrow, as people rush around the high streets doing their lastminute Christmas shopping. Thankfully, Second Life offers a less frenetic way to honour the traditional spirit of festive giving, with the Second Life Christmas initiative.

It's an island in Linden Lab's virtual world, with various different ways to donate to charity, including a silent auction. One charity benefitting is Canadian organisation the Province Empty Stocking Fund. iPod Touches are being given away as prizes, and according to CNET's Geek Gestalt blog, more than $400 has so far been raised. I've just been nosing about there, and the giant Christmas tree alone deserves a donation. On which festive note, the Virtual Worlds Forum Blog will be taking a break over Christmas, but will be back on 2nd January. Second Life Christmas SLurl (via Geek Gestalt)
