Science, virtual worlds and multiplicity

Comments [0] | 20 June 2007

Went to a great evening last night at the Apple Store on Regent Street, on virtual worlds and science organised by the Royal Institution. Speakers were Dave Taylor from the National Physical Laboratory in Teddington, Jo Scott from Nature magazine and Aleks Krotoski, Guardian journalist and researcher. Extremely interesting presentations, although interesting a lot of use of the phrase "Second Life" to actually mean virtual worlds. Sure, the Linden guys have had lots of PR (both good and bad, but then some say any publicity is blah blah blah). This, in contrast to Big Blue's announcement that they see the future in 3D in general, rather than Second Life in particular.
