PS3 Home hailed as Top Vaporware Game of 2007

Wired's Game|Life blog has compiled a chart of the top ten vaporware games of 2007 - the titles that were due out this year, but never quite made it. And sitting proudly at the top of the list (well, maybe not proudly) is Home, Sony's virtual world for PlayStation 3. It was due to launch this Autumn, but was delayed until 2008. Writer Chris Kohler argues his point well for why Home's delay is cause for sadness:
"It has the potential to take the PlayStation 3's online experience and make it a compelling feature of the platform. It's potentially disruptive. It could move a lot of hardware if it's an enticing enough proposition... With PlayStation 3's game library only a few exclusives away from being a glitchy subset of Xbox 360's, Sony needs something that firmly sets its platform apart. Home is the closest thing."
It's hard to know whether Home really will sell more PS3 consoles, but it's certainly hotly anticipated by both gamers and the virtual worlds industry. Here's hoping that Sony fixes the problems that delayed its launch this year, and gets some momentum behind Home when it eventually launches. Game|Life Top 10 Vaporware Games chart
