Austrian virtual worlds firm Avaloop has appointed Thomas Bidaux as vice president of strategy for its Papermint virtual world. He's been tasked with driving the international expansion of the world, which was showcased at last year's Virtual Worlds Forum in London.
Bidaux certainly has plenty of experience in the online games industry, particularly with his role as co-founder of the European arm of NCsoft, where he helped make their Guild Wars MMO a success in Europe. He also has form working at France Telecom’s online game division on the Dark Age Of Camelot game.
Papermint is Avaloop’s first virtual world, and launched in Austria last year. The company has 18 employees, but is clearly looking to ramp up its activities pretty quickly, given this ambitious hire.
