A heartwarming tale to get the Christmas season started: MMO developer Destination Games is offering an NPC role in its Tabula Rasa MMO to the winner of a special auction, from which proceeds will benefit the Child's Play charity. Publisher NCsoft is also involved, according to the eBay listing. The winning bidder will have an NPC named after them, and if they're an existing player of the game (which seems likely), they'll be escorted to meet their namesake by lead designer / MMO legend Richard Garriott himself. At the time of writing, bidding stands at $405, and the auction doesn't end until Monday, so there's plenty of room for that to rise. Tabula Rasa auction (via Wired)
