Natasha Bedingfield to stream live acoustic gig into Habbo Hotel

Habbo Hotel has clearly been building up its music activties in recent months, although usually around in-world promotions where bands meet their fans virtually. However, it's stepped up a gear with the announcement that Brit singer Natasha Bedingfield is to stream a live acoustic gig into Habbo.

It’s the first time Habbo has featured this kind of live performance (and the first time Bedingfield has appeared in a virtual world). The gig will be followed by a meet’n’greet in which she’ll field questions from fans. Teemu Huuhtanen is the executive VP of marketing, ad sales and business development in North America for Sulake, which runs Habbo, and he sees more of this sort of thing coming:

“More and more, virtual communities and social networks like Habbo are becoming a primary source of mainstream entertainment for teens. Established artists like Natasha Bedingfield understand this online transition and virtual performances will be increasingly important for entertainers to reach their fans.”

The gig takes place this Thursday at 3pm PDT (that’s 6pm EDT, or 11pm if you’re here in the UK). The gig itself will be streamed on Habbo Radio in-world.
