Lanetro Zed launching Zed City virtual world

Comments [1] | 12 November 2007

Spanish firm Lanetro Zed is known for its activities in the mobile content industry, running one of the most successful subscription-based businesses selling ringtones, games and other content to mobile users. It recently announced its mobile business generated $100 million in revenues in September alone, if you need a guide to its success. Anyway, Lanetro Zed is also making a big push into Web 2.0 services, including email, instant messaging, blogging and now virtual worlds. According to Mobile Entertainment magazine, the company is launching its own virtual world called Zed City, which is currently in beta. Interestingly, it's online only - I'd expected it to have a significant mobile element. However, there will apparently be some interaction between Zed City and Lanetro Zed's mobile operations, such as messaging between users, and the ability for people to check their mobile game ranking from within the virtual world. It's certainly one to watch. Lanetro Zed website
