We've had plenty of virtual worlds aimed at teens, tweens and pre-teens. Now Knowledge Adventure is setting its sights on even younger kids, with the launch of a new virtual world called JumpStart for 3-5 year-olds. Its full title is JumpStart Advanced Preschool World, and there's a firmly educational focus.
It’s initially being sold as standalone PC software costing $29.99, with educational content presented within a 3D beach and jungle setting, with customisable avatars.
However, in July the company is apparently launching a website version, using a monthly subscription of $8-12 and offering more interactivity, including the ability for children to personalise the environments and share their artwork with other users. Parents are also encouraged to participate, uploading content and sending messages to their children.
